Q: What inspires you?
A: I love animals, bright colors, geometrical shapes and I try to have a sense of humor about life and to focus on the positive things. Strangely enough, I find the news somewhat depressing which inspires me to create more things to make people smile. In fact, my favorite compliment is when people tell me my art makes them smile!

Q: Do you accept commissions?
A: Yes, I am happy to discuss any artistic needs you may have. I regularly do portraits of pets for those who want to capture the character and personality of their pet in the unique Artimal Style. CLICK HERE for more info.

Q: What is a Giclee?
A: A giclee (zhee-CLAY) is an individually produced, high-resolution, high-fidelity reproduction done on a special large format printer. Giclees are produced from digital scans of existing artwork. Also, since many artists now produce only digital art, there is no "original" that can be hung on a wall. Giclees solve that problem, while creating a whole new vibrant medium for art.
Giclees can be printed on any number of media, from canvas to watercolor paper to transparent acetates. Giclees are superior to traditional lithography in several ways. The colors are brighter, last longer, and are so high-resolution that they are virtually continuous tone, rather than tiny dots. The range, or "gamut" of color for giclees is far beyond that of lithography.
Lithography uses tiny dots of four colors--cyan, magenta, yellow and black--to fool the eye into seeing various hues and shades. Giclees use inkjet technology, but far more sophisticated than your desktop printer, with lightfast inks and finer, more numerous, replaceable printheads, a wider color gamut, and the ability to use various media to print on.
They are priced midway between original art and regular limited edition lithographs. Limited edition litho prints are usually produced in editions of 500-1000 or more, but giclees rarely exceed 50-100 reproductions.
Giclees were originally developed as a proofing system for lithograph printing presses, but it became apparent that the presses were having a hard time matching the quality and color of the giclee proofs. They evolved into the new darlings of the art world. They are coveted by collectors, and desired by galleries because they don't have to be produced in huge quantities with their large layout of capital and storage.

Q: Do you paint murals?
A: Yes, I can paint extremely large murals directly on your wall or onto a wall sized sheet of canvas so you can roll it up and take it with you should you ever move. Please contact me for more information and rates.

Q: Do you sell wholesale to retailers?
A: Yes, wholesale pricing is available to carry my prints or originals in your retail shop. Please contact me for more information.

Q: Do you ship worldwide?
A: Yes

Q: Do I have to pay with PayPal?
A: Certainly not. Just send me an e-mail and we will arrange for another payment method.

Q: Are any of your artimals inspired by real animals?
A: Yes, several of my paintings are portraits of actual pets. Crazy Cat was my friend's cat; while he was a kitten he was always attacking our feet and clawing us in the playful way that kittens do. Cat on a Sill was Jojo who recently passed away. He was a very noble kitty who looked after the other cats.

Q: Do you sell gift certificates?
A: Yes, gift certificates are available in any dollar amount. Click the link for more info!

Q: I live in Eugene - do I have to pay shipping?
A: No, if you are purchasing locally you do not have to pay for shipping. Please e-mail me with your requests and we can arrange for delivery.

Q: Does my monitor accurately display the color of the prints?
A: Everyone's monitor settings are different so it is difficult to say if they are accurate. Some monitors make the prints look darker than they actually are, some lighter, etc. These prints in real life are bright, colorful, crisp and vivid!

Q: Did you go to art school?
A: Yes, I studied classical oil painting as you can see on my other pages on this site. Although the Artimals are very different from classical art, it was studying classical art that gave me the artistic foundation and skills I needed to transition into my current style, such as composition, design, use of color, brush strokes and focal points.
